SUP PUP Clinic: Build Confidence On and Off the Water
Part One – Land Training
Monday, June 8th | 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.
Colonial K9 Training Center
This foundational session sets you and your dog up for success before you ever hit the water. We’ll bring the paddleboards indoors and introduce your dog to their new “floating place,” teaching them how to confidently get on, settle, and relax.
You’ll learn essential paddleboarding skills including safety basics, equipment setup, and paddle strokes while your dog practices key behaviors like sit, stay, and calmness on the board. This session is all about building clarity, confidence, and teamwork in a low-distraction environment.
What to bring:
Paddleboard, paddle, training treats, a treat bag, your dog’s life jacket, and your life jacket (we’ll check for proper fit).
Part Two – Water Training
Saturday, June 13th | 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Lake Mooney
(Rain date: Sunday, June 14th)
After a week of practice at home, it’s time to take your skills to the water. In this session, we’ll bring everything together in a real-world setting.
You’ll learn how to safely launch and land with your dog, refine your paddle strokes, and dial in positioning for both you and your dog on the board. We’ll also cover what to do if things don’t go as planned—like unexpected swims—and help both of you build comfort and confidence on the water.
This session focuses on creating a positive, low-stress experience so you and your dog can enjoy paddleboarding together safely and confidently.
What to bring:
Paddleboard, paddle, training treats, a treat bag, your dog’s life jacket, your life jacket, board leash, water, snacks, sunscreen, towel, a change of clothes (for the ride home), and water shoes. A dry bag is recommended if you have one.
Cost
$275 (for both sessions) Paid to Colonial K9
Participants are required to have their own equipment. However we have a limited amount of extra gear that can be loaned. So if you want to take this class but need something please email me to reserve equipment.
